John Metzler

PRINCIPLE, RME, MANAGING MEMBER

The son and grandson of engineering, business and ranching families, Mr. Metzler was born and raised in the Rocky Mountain state of New Mexico. After graduating from St. Michael's High in Santa Fe among the top in his class, Mr. Metzler studied engineering at the University of New Mexico between 1967 & 1969. He took up residency in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1972, relocated to Hawaii Island in 1973 and in 1976 founded the Company that bears his name.

After working in the building trades at the fledgling resort properties on the now-famous Kohala Coast, he received his first Hawaii General Contractor's license in 1981. In 2000 the Company's business structure was changed to a Hawaii limited liability company and he became Managing Member and Responsible Managing Employee of the Company. This change required additional contractor licensing and the company now holds licenses for various trades in the construction industry in addition to its General Building Contractor's License.

Some of Mr. Metzler's professional associations include the National Association of Home Builders, Building Industry Association of Hawaii, Hawaii Island Contractors Association and he is a member of the State of Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Contractors Advisory Board. His community and philanthropic interests include countless local, state and national associations, events, churches and charities and cultural endeavors as well as his close ties to the many dedicated employees of the Company and their families. He leads the Company in its efforts to foster and support young peoples' sports activities across the Big Island of Hawaii.

John's current interests include travel, golf, vintage automobiles and fast cars, fresh and salt water fishing, snow & water skiing, horticulture, fine art, land development & investments and enjoying time with his family. Joni, his wife and life partner, is active in successful business endeavors and local sports, claiming several top finishes in statewide triathlete competition. His three children, Nina Kai, Christopher and Katy are all currently in Hawaii enjoying walks of life that include housewife and mother, Project Manager for the Company and biologist/school teacher.
